In a time where our freedoms as LGBTQ people are being challenged and taken away across every avenue, Pride is about never giving up for our colleagues, friends, family, and the wider community.Īfter being the subject of a few different online harassment campaigns, I am consistently asked one very specific question… I feel like I am home.Īnyway, Pride is important for supporting our employees and our players. ![]() It's incredibly refreshing to see our C-level staff posting pro-LGBTQIA statements on their public pages, a stark contrast from the experience I've had at former companies where I was silenced and told I'm the equivalent of "too woke" in my viewpoints on social media. We share pronouns in every large meeting at the company, and put them in our Teams profiles. ![]() I feel that the employee groups that I'm a part of are well-supported by the whole company (Accessibility at Bungie, Women at Bungie, Pride at Bungie). I feel incredibly lucky to work among a diverse team of LGBTQIA+ game developers on Marathon, probably the best queer rep of any team I've worked on. I feel supported as whatever human being I am on any given day. I can’t wait to be able to get lost in the world of Verra with all of you.īungie, in my experience, has been a company that actually walks the walk when it comes to our values. So, in many ways it feels like a homecoming.Īshes is an ambitious game and there are tons of challenging problems to solve, but that is the fun part of game design. It’s also an opportunity to get to work with several awesome folks who I’ve known and worked with before, when years ago we built another world, that is still thriving today. I’ll admit, at the time I was skeptical.īut I watched with growing excitement as the team Steven has built at Intrepid Studios gained steam, blasted through my skepticism, and started to deliver on his vision! The beautiful, deep world, the gamer-first attitude, and the openness of the team were all things I wanted to be a part of and so when the opportunity arose, I jumped at it. We met as fellow gamers through mutual friends, and I vividly remember one of our early conversations where he laid out his detailed vision for this crazy ambitious MMO he wanted to build. ![]() I’ve known Steven Sharif, the Creative Director on Ashes, for over seven years. I’m happy to be able to say that I’m now the Lead Designer on Ashes of Creation at Intrepid Studios! After over six years at Amazon Games, working with several awesome teams on quite a few exciting projects, especially New World, it’s time for me to embark on a new adventure! ![]()
